FIREARM TRANSFERS

How to transfer an online purchase to Red Circle Tactical

If you want to buy a gun out of state we can help with the transfer of that gun into Michigan. If you need to ship a firearm out of state we can help with that as well.

Before you purchase the firearm, be sure it's legal in Michigan. Most common firearms including silencers, SBRs and Machine Guns are legal. If you are uncertain, you can verify the Michigan legal status of the item by contacting the Michigan State Police Firearms Division by phone, email or in-person and they will help you if you are uncertain.

Click HERE to visit the MSP Firearms Website or you can call the firearms division at:
(517) 241-1917.

QUICK LOCAL FIREARM TRANSFER FACTS:

Make sure your Michigan ID has your current address and is NOT expired or we can't transfer a gun to you. You must have a Michigan ID.
  • As of 02/13/2024, if you want to purchase or transfer a handgun, and you do not posses a valid Michigan CPL, you must visit your local police department or Sheriff office and obtain a License to Purchase a Firearm (LTP). This does not apply to firearm receivers, frames or any firearm that is longer than 26" AKA a non-pistol. (Yes many of you will recognize this is a step back in time for Michigan residents). You must complete this process before you come to our shop. This new rule does not apply to the purchase of a rifle or shotgun
  • Handgun, Rifle, Shotgun, Frame or Receiver processing fee = $60 for the first firearm and $20 for each additional (if processed at the same time).*
  • If no gun lock is included with the firearm, per Michigan law, the transfer must include a trigger lock. In this case, you must purchase one from us at an additional cost  (starting at $12 per firearm and this price may fluctuate due to market factors.*)
  • International Students, out of state residents and other qualified, but unusual citizenship situations = $100 for the first firearm and $20 for each additional if processed at the same time.
  • NFA items (Silencer, SBR, SBS, AOW) = $200 per item (International Students, and other qualified, but unusual situations = $400 per item).
  • NFA Machine Gun = due to the extremely high value of these items, it is determined by value of the item on case a by case basis.
  • We are not responsible for checking the status of your delivery, any shipping delays, tracking your package, or anything related to your transaction with any other firearm retailer.
  • No transfers accepted from private sellers.
  • We only accept packages from UPS and FedEx.
*Incoming transfers from these sellers are accepted. However, the cost is $75 (Handgun, Rifle, Shotgun or Receiver ):

The dealer you purchased the firearm from will need a copy of our FFL. They can request a copy at this email address:
ffl  a t  redcircletactical  .  com (remove the spaces and replace 'at' with @).

If you need us to ship a gun from Michigan to another state we are happy to assist. However, you will need to locate a dealer in the state willing to accept the transfer, you must verify that the weapon is legal in that state and have that dealer send us a copy of their current FFL. The cost to transfer is the same as our normal transfer plus the cost of packing and shipping the firearm (which does vary).

PLEASE NOTE: we  only accept incoming transfers from federally licensed dealers. No individual incoming transfers.

Standard Rifle or Handgun Transfer:
You locate a firearm you desire, but it's for sale in another US state. You simply buy the item(s) and then have the seller contact us. In all cases, it is YOUR responsibility to arrange with them to contact us in order to process the firearms transfer. Please also let them know we only accept packages from UPS and FedEx.

Once your firearm arrives (we receive guns with no contact info occasionally so check with us if you are expecting an item), you then come to our store and we complete the transfer paperwork. Please note that even thought the tracking may show your firearm is delivered, it takes us as least one day to have it ready to transfer. If you come the same as delivery, we will likely have you return another day to complete the transfer.

As of 02/13/2024, if you want to purchase or transfer a handgun and you do not posses a valid Michigan CPL, you must visit your local police department or Sheriff office and obtain a License to Purchase a Firearm (LTP) before you come to our shop. This does not apply to firearm receivers, frames or any firearm that is longer than 26" AKA a non-pistol.  You must complete this process before you come to our shop.
The paperwork is the same paperwork that a dealer in Michigan would process if you were buying the firearm locally (an BATFE form 4473).  Once you are here, we then process the paperwork and complete a background check (NCIS). As long as your background check (NCIS) is clear, you pay us, (maybe buy some more cool stuff), then you can take the firearm with you. Simple as that.

If the firearm does not include a new trigger lock, you must purchase one which is required under Michigan law (PA 265 of 2000, MCL 28.435). If the transfer includes more than one firearm we must sell you additional trigger locks. We also have some lockable handgun cases for sale that can be utilized instead of the trigger lock at various price points.

If you purchased a lock specifically for the firearm(s) you are transferring, you can bring it/them with you and THE RECEIPT and we do not have to sell you a lock(s). We can only use that lock and receipt for one gun and only one time.

International Students, out of state residents, qualified, but unusual citizenship situations incur a higher cost. As the transfer price varies for this service, please contact us if you have any questions.

*Additionally, active Military with orders can receive handguns as well as the ATF considers active orders like you are a resident.

CLASS III OR NFA ITEM (SILENCER, SHORT BARRELLED RIFLE/ SHOTGUN, AOW, MACHINE GUN)**:

The process to transfer an out of state NFA item such as a silencer, short barrel rifle or machine gun is a bit different, but essentially the same.

Again, you might locate a tough to find item out of state (such as a rare machine gun, a short barreled rifle or silencer). You simply buy the item(s) and then have the seller contact us. In all cases, it is YOUR responsibility to arrange with them to contact us in order to process the firearms transfer. Please also let them know we only accept packages from UPS and FedEx.

Once your item(s) arrives, we contact you and arrange a time and day to fill out the required BATFE paperwork. All BATFE NFA transfers are by appointment only. Plan on spending some time with us. The forms require you to obtain fingerprints and photos. Once we (you and us) complete the BATFE paperwork, we then submit it to the BATFE on your behalf. We only file via ATF e-forms.

We then wait until the BATFE processes and approves the transfer paperwork. This is the portion of the process that takes time and can get delayed a bit if they require any corrections and/or request any additional information.

Once this the BATFE paperwork is approved, we contact you and arrange a time and day to make the transfer. You stop by our store and we finalize the paperwork. At the time of transfer to you, you have to fill out a form 4473 (same form you fill out to buy a firearm). However, there is no background check required with an NFA transfer as they have already performed a detailed background check in advance. Once the form 4473 is completed, you take your purchases with you. Yay!

As we cannot evaluate the validity of Trust or Corporation documents, all transfers to a Trust or Corporation must be completed, in-person, by the original purchaser.

**Machine Gun transfer pricing is different due to the extremely high value of these items. It is determined by value of the item on case by case basis. We are responsible for your item for a long period of time and we have increased costs to hold your item.

***International Students and other qualified, but unusual, citizenship situations incur a higher cost. Please contact us if you have any questions.

Of course, if you would rather just shop locally (It's good to keep our business local when possible.) Let us know what you are looking for and we can most likely get it for you in a few days. NFA items can take longer to arrive.

Again please check our store first before you buy elsewhere: CLICK HERE

Do remember that licensed FFL dealers are not required to process transfers. They offer this service as a favor to YOU. Please treat the dealer with respect.

PLEASE NOTE:
Prices and policies can change from what is listed here. Please email us if you want the most current info.
